Yazd Province :
Yazd province, in the center of Iran , is located between the latitudes 31
53' and 32 56' N. and longitudes 52 55' and 57 30' E.
It is bounded on the north and the west by Esfahan province, on the
northeast by Khorasan province, on the southwest by Fars province and on the
southeast by Kerman province.
Yazd has an area of 69,605 square kilometers and based on the 1995 divisions
it has 7 counties named Yazd, Ardakan, Bafq, Taft, Abarkuh, Mehriz and
Meybod, 16 towns, 14 rural districts and 38 villages.
The center of this province is Yazd.
City

inhabitants (1996). It is situated on the border zone between the Great Salt
Desert to the north and the Great Sand Desert to the south. It is the
capital of Yazd Province with 750,000 inhabitants (1996).
Yazd
has been the junction for the trading routes between Fars and Khorasan, Iraq and
Kerman as well as for
trade from India and central Asia.
Yazd is famous for its silk textiles. Other
industries include spinning and weaving mills, production of water
purification and filtration equipment, mining and quarrying. Agricultural
products include almonds, some grain, wheat, barley, cotton, oilseeds,
indigo plants, fruits, and vegetables. Yazd is well connected by road and
railway to Kerman 300 km southeast, Qom 700 km northwest,
Esfahan 400 km west and Teheran
900 km northwest. It also has an airport.
